Perspectives. Nothing else to say.

I was scooting around crunchyroll.com one day, when out of curiousity, I decided to search for ‘maplestory’.  And guess what I found…

crunchyroll

I was quite shocked to find out that Nexon has branched out into the anime scene.  And so, I watched the 1st episode of this relatively new anime.(currently 3 episodes only.)  Here’s the synopsis… (taken from crunchyroll.com too)

TTen years ago, the World Tree that protected peace and order of the world was being targeted by an evil organization called the Zakun (in Mandarin pinyin, it is za1 kun1 tuan2). The Human race led four other races in a fight against the Zakuns. In the end, the World Tree activated self-destruction to protect itself. However, the other races thought it was the Human race that destroyed the World Tree. Since then, a never-ending war between the different races began.
Ten years later, the main protagonist, Al, determines to revive the World Tree. Al and his companions begin their journey to seek the seed of the World Tree. At the same time, the Zakuns

This anime has quite an interesting storyline.  However, from the quality, I can tell that Nexon did not put much effort into the production and only wanted to use this anime to attract more people to the actual game.  In fact, you can say that this anime is just simply blending all the monsters, maps and places into one and conjuring up a storyline to go with it.  Don’t waste your time on this anime; there are much better ones for you to watch.

Talking about crunchyroll, some people call it the Asian youtube’ but it is actually an upsize version of youtube, with better organization and other stuff like groups.  Oh yes,  if you are a member of crunchyroll too(like me!), get someone to invite you to the maplestory group!

In this picture, some cash items I have bought 90 days ago have just expired. WAAA!! *grabs tissue*

These have made me realise something:  Those items, although they made me look cool, were TEMPERORY, meaning that after a pitiful 90 days, they disappear into thin air.  And so I question myself:  What is the use of those white elephant clothes?  Is looking cool for 90 days worth the cost I paid?  (9k cash)

That is the sad thing behind cash items.  Although they make us go ‘WOW!’  when we see them, we always forget the sad truth that they act as white elephants and will always disappear one day. That is what makes the cash shop so successful and to keep that wow factor there, the gms constantly add more white elephants into the already highly-populated white elephant cash shop.

I’m not trying to say that we should boycott the cash shop; all I want to advise is this:  Before you buy the cash shop item, ask yourself:  Is it really worth the _______ a-cash* I have to spend for this?  What will I gain from the item?

* Or NX-cash in Mapleglobal.

You can say that this blog was dead for a period of more than 1 month, before I decided to revive it again.  It seems like my motivation to post had weakened(thanks to some other games which distracted me from mapling), but now I have decided to come back and post again.  In theme with my previous post, I will be talking about OPQ.

I had been pqing for 7 levels before i decided to train at the dead mine instead.  I did that because the experience given was just too little. (I had received an ‘exp-cut’ because I did a full pq before.)  Over these 7 levels, I have met many new people(good or bad; cute or ugly) and here is a list of things I(and probably many maplers) hate…

  • A leader who always misses- I usually gives the leader a couple of chances as I know how difficult it is to be a successful pq leader and how frustrating it is if the members ‘mass-quit’ . However, this does not mean that I will hang around with a ‘confirm miss’ leader all day, waiting for him to successfully go into pq. (That is TOO time consuming!)  A piece of advice to all potential leaders:  If you don’t think you have the skill to be a leader, DON’T BE ONE!
  • ’sure in’ members- How many times have you seen this?  In channel 1, there’s this high-leveled pro saying ‘I WAN RUSH/BLEACH*/FULL PQ MUST SURE IN@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@)  This is even more common in ludibrum pq.  This is a message for everyone who commonly says that:  I don’t agree with saying ’sure in’, for every leader is human and they all make mistakes(especially when trying to enter pq!)  Further more, entering pq is not as easy as you think!  And if you are so demanding and think that getting into pq is a piece of cake (we can infer that from what you have said)  why not create your own party?  Anyway, I have tested and found out that even though  you say sure in, there are still a lot of chances of ending up with a leader who cannot enter the pq.  Also, many leaders now prefer NOT TO add those who say ’sure in’.
  • Irresponsible leaders-  There is now a function which allows the leader to appoint a new leader with a click of a button.  This function has often been abused, especially when the leader is in ‘dire straits’ :He keeps missing, people mass quit the party and in order to get himself out of the mess, he transfers the leadership to the highest leveled player.  This is very irresponsible.

* The name of this kind of pq varies from server to server.  It is called super-rush pq in Aquila; I’m using the bootes name as I am in bootes.

Phew!  You have come to the end of this wordy entry.  Thanks for reading! =)

The above picture was taken in the sealed room of the Orbis PQ.

I’ve noticed a flaw in the Orbis PQ system; no matter where you go in the tower, the map name is “Tower of the goddess” (With some exceptions of course.)  This means that when the party outside tracks (/find ________) the track will usually be in the tower of the goddess.  This also means that the party outside will NOT be able to anticipate when the party will come out, rendering their track  useless, especially if the party is doing rush or bleach PQ (Trust me, it is irritating!)

Perhaps the GMS should change the naming system, so that the map name corresponds with the room the party is in??

(inspired by the Hari Raya Puasa event tomorrow)

Events…Where should I begin?  I personally feel that it is a HUGE waste of time.  It can be summarized in the following words:GMS summons some UBER monsters, makes everyone die OR GMS play some games with us, in a bid to earn more $$ by making us answer their questions by ‘weathering’.  (This has been the recent trend for events.)

I feel that these events are NOT at all fun.  After all, do you call lagging with a huge crowd of maplers, trying to take screenshots with the GMs fun!?  Or do you call being killed again and again by some legendary monsters fun!?  And most importantly, do you think spending your money on weathers just to say ‘HI’ to the GMs or answer some of their crummy questions FUN!?  Or do you call your computer lagging and crashing even AFTER you have quit maple FUN!?(Trust me, it happens!)

Well, that is why i do not like to attend events.  I think I will give the upcoming Hari Raya Puasa event the miss and spend some time in PQ and training instead.

IMPORTANT NOTE:ALL VIEWS STATED HERE ARE NOT, IN ANY WAY, SUPPOSED TO PERSUADE THE READER TO CHANGE HIS MIND ABOUT THE TOPIC(S) MENTIONED.

I made 2 discoveries today:  the ludibrum and ossyria continents finally have maps!  w00t!(The GMS are so evil; they didn’t inform us on this!)

map.jpgmaple0010.jpg

Kudos to the person who drew out these intricate maps! They are much better than the Victoria Island one!  Anyway,  with the release of these 2 maps, i wonder if there will be maps for Shanghai, Singapore,Zipangu…

I saw this interesting poll on the MSEA Forum:Do you want a new element?

Actually, I remember that about a year ago, I suddenly thought, “Hey!  Why should the mages be limited to only 3 elements-Fire/poison, Ice/Lightning and holy?  Why not have other elements like darkness, water etc?”  But being VERY forgetful, I soon forgot about that thought.

My initial thoughts upon seeing the poll were, “Good idea!  The gms should have more job adv at once!”  But,after giving it some thoughts i decided against it.  Fuse had metioned a very important point, which I totally agree with…

If they introduce new elements, the whole monster database has to be changed most likely.

This means A LOT of work for the poor gms, and maybe many hours of server mantainence.(A taboo word for many maplers.) and patches, among other disadvantages…

So, although having new elements for mages can be fun, but it isn’t pratical and I personally disapprove of it.

Ever since v.46 came out, there have been some changes…(BTW I’m NOT talking about Leafre…)

Notice what’s in the red box?  It’s Nexon, not Asiasoft!  When you enter maplestory, you will see this too…

maple0023.jpg

This pretty much proves that Nexon was involoved in Maplesea too!  As said in hidden-street quite some time ago…

14th May 2007 – Banning of foreign IPs

We have recently met a few Asiasoft staffs to clarify the issue of the banning of foreign IPs, after we have received quite a few e-mails and messages complaining about this matter. The staffs told us that the directive to ban foreign IPs (namely those from the USA, etc) came directly from Nexon, who is the current developer of MapleStory. Asiasoft is merely a distributor of the local game in the South-East Asia region and takes no part in handling the game’s actual patching.

So what is the point of this?  The people who have been ranting at Asiasoft and Wizet in the forum about the patches, mantainences etc. have directed their complain to the wrong people!  What an embarrasing mistake! x)

I’m back again.  This time I’m here to talk about the Singapore localisation map, which is highly expected by us to come out any time now…

The forum(and also the whole of the maplesea community) is brainstorming on what will be there, where it will FINALLY come out, etc.   Its going to be big, evident by the SG Localized Boss mob Fan-Art Contest(wondering if it would be an uber merlion! X) )

I had a look at the ‘brainstorming thread’ and according to the wonderful moderator BlinkJet, who said on page 5 that…

Heard from the admins that there will be a ghost ship. Stay tuned for more updates

Lol.  I wonder what will be on the ghost ship.  Maybe some pirates from our neighbour Malaysia and your quest is to stop their plan?  Or maybe Sir Standford Raffles, the founder(was it ever lost?) of modern Singapore?  who knows?

Anyway, there are some really wacky(and good)ideas in the brainstorming thread.  Visit it if you have time.  For the record, I like the idea of the customs in Changi Airport..  If its real, I’ll certainly stock my inventory with level 1 swords before going in!

-Do not use ”Weapons” while going to Singapore map via Terminal 1/2 customs or will bebrought to the ”Office” for investigation.-Changi Airport. [ Place where you'll land after taking a plane to Singapore]

PS Look out for a review of the map when it comes out!

Have a look at this: “look what I found, this isn’t a roumor”

lol.  Anyone heard of such a beginner skill in maplesea  ? Hands up please!

Anyway, I’m furious about this post.  The author did not get his facts right before accusing maplesea  Sad, isn’t it?

Quote from the article:

Scrolls can only be used when you have equipped the item that you wish to upgrade, but in KoreanMS, MapleSEA, and JapanMS, there is a new beginner skill that allows you to scroll an item without the need of equipping it.
